The Annual Information Statement and Taxpayer Information Summary on the e-filing portal now carry interest, securities, property, cash deposits, and in many cases GST turnover. Filing a return that contradicts AIS is an invitation to a campaign letter. The information is not always correct — a joint property, a wrongly reported SFT — but it is always there. Open AIS first. Particularly for land and building in Ayodhya, and for mill accounts with multiple family PANs in Basti. See ITR for proprietors and HUFs.
Update
Reconcile AIS / TIS before the return, not after the notice
Property, cash, interest and GST turnover already sit in the Annual Information Statement.
